IMAX Program is a personalized education start-up that partners with schools, supporting them in processes they follow, with learning materials & processes that are all crafted to work together as an interconnected system to drive learning. The program includes textbooks, workbooks, school exams, feedback reports, and individualized remedial worksheets along with teacher manuals and teacher training modules.
Co-founded by Naveen Mandava and Varun Kumar, the IMAX Program is based on their insights from their work in education impact evaluation consulting, working with organizations like Sesame Street, American India Foundation, and Johns Hopkins University. It caters to classes from kindergarten to 9 and works with around 800 schools and 3,00,000 students across the country, using their exam data to provide individualized remedial worksheets.
The startup raised $13.5 million in 2018, with the investment being advised by LGT Impact, the impact investment team of LGT. The round also saw participation from the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation (MSDF), and Aspada, an existing investor in the company.
As per the program heads, the current infusion of funds will be used to further innovate the product, enhance in-school service experiences, and expand the customer base through multiple distribution channels. IMAX will also explore working with K12 publishers internationally, to deliver high quality in-school remedial programmes to a global student base.
